He'eia Fishpond Restoration
Eleven 17 Day 2024
at He'eia Fishpond
Event Details:
In strategic partnership with Paepae o He‘eia, Eleven 17 is excited to announce our annual Eleven 17 Day 2024 on November 17th, 8am-12pm. This year’s community activation will be held at He'eia Fishpond in He’eia, Ko’olaupoko, O’ahu. As a community, our goal is to restore and preserve the natural biodiversity of this indigenous environment and protect natural resources against soil erosion. Our mission for this event is to support the final stage of a 20-year restoration project to remove invasive mangroves and restore the fishpond’s ecosystem.
As part of our mission to clean, and restore ecosystems, our partnership with Paepae o He’eia aims to educate and perpetuate a foundation of cultural sustainability within communities of Hawai‘i. In sync with our restoration initiative, Eleven 17 and Paepae o He’eia will coordinate to share and foster traditional ecological restoration knowledge to increase sustainable community engagement for years to come.

We are immensely grateful and full of appreciation for all the love and support for our restoration project at Wāwāmalu Beach Park, which included removing invasive plants, native planting, and removal of trash. Because of the support from our local community, we’ve allowed for future generations to create memories in the restored native ecosystem at Wāwāmalu.
